Terms of Use

By downloading, installing, or using Longtang (“the App”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes on devices you own or control, subject to these terms and the rules of the platform you downloaded it from (Apple App Store or Google Play Store).

Permitted Use

You may use the App to:

  • Look up Chinese vocabulary and view dictionary entries
  • Build and manage personal vocabulary lists
  • Review vocabulary using spaced repetition
  • Read and study Chinese text passages
  • Practice tone recognition and pronunciation
  • Browse and study grammar patterns
  • Generate and print PDF practice sheets, vocabulary lists, and reference materials for personal use

Restrictions

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Extract or republish the bundled dictionary data, stroke order data, or example sentences in bulk
  • Use the App or its data to build a competing product or service
  • Remove or alter any copyright or attribution notices

Intellectual Property

The App and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Fabrica 33 LLC and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

The App incorporates the following third-party data sources under their respective open licenses:

  • CC-CEDICT (Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0)
  • HanDeDict (Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0)
  • CFDICT (Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0)
  • Make Me a Hanzi stroke order data (LGPL / Artistic License)
  • Tatoeba example sentences (Creative Commons Attribution 2.0)
  • pdf and printing packages by David MUSIC (Apache License 2.0) — PDF generation and printing

User Content

All vocabulary lists, review progress, and preferences you create are stored locally on your device. We do not access, collect, or store your content. You are solely responsible for backing up your device data.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

  • The App will be error-free or uninterrupted
  • Dictionary entries, translations, or stroke order data are completely accurate
  • The App will meet your specific learning requirements

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Fabrica 33 LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data or learning progress, arising from your use of the App.

App Store Terms

Your use of the App is also subject to the terms and conditions of the platform from which you downloaded it:

In the event of a conflict between these Terms and the applicable platform terms, the platform terms shall prevail.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or the App.

Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Updated terms will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
